KRW370 billion contract signed with Singapore PowerGrid for an extra-high-voltage power grid turnkey system
      ■ Contract won for all sections of Singapore’s next-generation power grid project

Anyang, June 19, 2017 - LS Cable & System succeeded in winning a contract for the largest project ever in Korean history of exporting extra-high-voltage cables.

LS Cable & System announced that it won the contract for an extra-high-voltage cable project worth KRW370 billion ($ 325 million) from Singapore PowerGrid. It is the largest project ever also in Singapore. The Singaporean government is implementing a new next-generation power grid to supply stable electricity throughout the country. Cable makers in various countries, such as Japan and China, competed fiercely to win this project.

Roe-Hyun Myung, President and CEO of LS Cable & System, said, “As LS Cable & System met all the evaluation criteria of the conservatively managed Singapore PowerGrid, and won the contract for all sections of the project, we proved that we have both quality and price competitiveness.”

LS Cable & System will install 230kV cables 60m underground in five north-south and east-west sections of Singapore by 2020. No fewer than 360kms of cables will be required in total meaning that a distance longer than the straight-line distance (325km) between Seoul and Busan will be connected by underground cables.

LS Cable & System has also recently been increasing investments in Myanmar through LS Cable & System Asia, the No. 1 cablemaker in the Vietnamese power cable market, and is aiming at sustainable growth by actively making inroads into overseas markets by establishing a power cable production subsidiary in the US, and a communication cable sales subsidiary in France.
