■ Cable diagnostics technology used to inspect electric leakage and safety education provided
■ Planning to start with traditional markets near Gumi, Donghae and Anyang, etc., then expand to markets around the country
Anyang, Sep. 25, 2017 - LS Cable & System announced today that it will provide manpower to inspect the electrical safety of traditional markets around the country.
LS Cable & System will use cable diagnostics technology to visit individual stores, check the insulation, electric leakage and coatings of cables, and provide merchants with safety education about cable abuse and misuse.
With Chuseok just around the corner, LS Cable & System is planning to check first the cables in traditional markets located near its business places, such as Gumi, Donghae and Gwangju, etc., and then gradually expand the project to markets around the country.
Roe-Hyun Myung, CEO of LS Cable & System, said, “We will make continued efforts to create opportunities for employees to use their expertise for donation of manpower, and fulfill our corporate social responsibility through continuous social contribution activities.”
As the electrical facilities in traditional markets crowded with stalls and small stores are quite old and often surrounded by highly flammable materials there, fire will spread quickly.
In particular, as half of the causes of fire are due to worn or damaged cables that leak electricity, have faulty contacts, poor insulation, or are subject to overload or short circuits, it’s very important to prevent fire by inspecting cables in advance.
If traditional market merchant associations request it, LS Cable & System will select inspection sites in consideration of size and urgency, and then the power system research group, facility management team, and volunteer clubs will conduct the inspection once or twice a month.
