LS C&S will be promoting its solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) component business through its affiliated company LS Alsco.

LS Alsco announced on May 31 that the company will be supplying fuel processing modules to Bloom SK Fuel Cell. The company is planning to assemble the harness and other parts with the core aluminum component in the Fuel processing System and start supplying them in June.

LS Alsco is one of the primary partners for Bloom SK Fuel Cell and is expanding its business infrastructure to develop into a major player in the hydrogen ecosystem.

CEO of LS Alsco Yeong-ho Hong stated, “Domestic production of the components is very crucial in terms of securing economic unit price for power generation.” He added, “We will contribute to the vitalization of the hydrogen economy by developing components and will cooperate with Bloom Energy, which has a presence in the US and many countries internationally, to expand into markets overseas.”

SOFC offers a high power generation efficiency between 40 ~ 60% and it is used in power generator devices for large buildings and IDCs. According to industry reports, power generating fuel cell businesses are projected to grow by at least 20% every year in Korea until 2040 based on the ‘Hydrogen Economy Vitalization Roadmap’ announced by the government back in January.

LS Alsco is a manufacturer specializing in high-strength and lightweight aluminum. Its parent company, LS Materials, is currently expanding into the eco-friendly energy business through secondary batteries, hydrogen batteries, and electric vehicle parts based on the ultra capacitors (UC) and aluminum manufactured by LS Alsco. LS Materials is currently planning to be listed on KOSDAQ market within the year.
