LS C&S announced on October 30 that the company has obtained international certification (ISO 21502) for ‘Turnkey (design and construction bidding) project management’ from LRQA.

This makes LS C&S the first cable manufacturer in Asia to obtain this certification and the second cable manufacturer in the world after a manufacturer based in Europe.

ISO 21502 is granted after the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) assesses the company’s process, system, manpower, etc., for the execution of turnkey projects.

LS C&S pushed to acquire this certification in order to establish a direction for improvement for the general management of submarine projects to further improve the company’s business capacity, and to actively respond to the demand for this international standard from global customers.

An LS C&S spokesperson stated, “Submarine cable failures result in chaos such as large-scale power failures and it is not easy to repair them so the overall management capacity for the project is very important,” and added, “There are more bids that require ISO 21502 certification in Europe and North America.”

The company plans to cooperate with the submarine cable construction company LS Marine Solution to increase turnkey orders after obtaining this certification.

Back in August, LS C&S, acquired LS Marine Solution to establish a value chain for its manufacturing-construction turnkey business. The two companies have been generating synergy together and were selected as preferred bidders for the Jeonnam Anma Offshore Wind Farm Project, which is expected to be worth hundreds of billions of won.
