LS Eco Energy (CEO Lee Sang-ho) has taken its first step into the power grid market for internet data centers (IDC) in Southeast Asia.
LS Eco Energy announced on the 10th that LS-VINA, the company's Vietnamese production company, had recently supplied medium-voltage (MV) and low-voltage (LV) power cables to the STT Fairview Campus, the largest IDC in the Philippines.
This is expected to serve as a springboard for the company to expand into the Southeast Asian IDC market.
The STT Fairview Campus facility is currently being constructed by global IDC specialist STT GDC in Quezon City, near Manila, Philippines. When completed, it is expected to have a total IT capacity of 124 MW, which will make it a key piece of infrastructure for AI and cloud companies.
Recently, IDC construction is being actively pursued in Southeast Asia as the AI and cloud industries grow rapidly. The company expects the IDC market in Southeast Asia, valued at approximately $8.8 billion in 2023, to grow at an annual average rate of more than 10% by 2028.
According to Lee Sang-ho, CEO of LS Eco Energy, “Large-scale IDC projects are actively being promoted not only in the Philippines but also in other major Southeast Asian countries such as Vietnam, Indonesia, and Malaysia.” He added, “We plan to expand our presence in the Southeast Asian IDC market based on LS-VINA’s production competitiveness.”
STT GDC is a global IDC operator wholly owned by ST Telemedia, a subsidiary of Singapore's sovereign wealth fund Temasek. It operates over 110 facilities around the world, including in Singapore, China, India, and the UK.
LS Eco Energy has been actively expanding its overseas market, starting with the recent export of aluminum power cables to the United States, and is achieving record performances every year. The company is also seeking to enter the submarine cable and rare earth fields.
